The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators.

Established in 1984, BAFE is a non-profit making organisation dedicated to improving standards in fire protection. It is supported, amongst others, by government, trading standards and the Health and Safety Executive. BAFE adopts third party certification schemes developed by independent certifications bodies and where there are not relevant schemes in place, develops its own.

The Independent Fire Engineer and Distributors Association was founded in 1989 as the independent representative body of fire trade companies. With no allegiance to manufacturers their principal role is to promote quality standards of service, delivery and distribution of fire protection products within the fire industry and to promote these benefits to insurance companies, fire authorities, government departments and other fire trade companies.

Constructionline is the UK's register of pre-qualified local and national construction and construction-related contractors and consultants. Owned and endorsed by the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (formerly the DTI), Constructionline is a contributor to the Rethinking Construction initiative gathering and assessing pre-qualification information on behalf of public and private sector procurers and providing them access to fully accredited suppliers free of charge.

Safecontractor is an accreditation scheme that assesses the health & safety competency of contractors and service providers.
